How much does ChatGPT cost for image generation?

Since September 8, 2026, ChatGPT Images 2.5 is available on every plan, free included. What changes between plans is how many images you get and the quality advertised.

Prices checked on 2026-10-10 on chatgpt.com/pricing, shown in France with VAT. The US Plus price of $20 a month could not be checked on the official page (unverified). OpenAI does not publish a numeric image quota per plan.

Is ChatGPT Plus worth it just for images?

Plus makes sense if you use everything else: advanced models, the Work agent, Codex, extended memory, projects. If your use comes down to a few images a month, you are mostly paying for features you never open. Three questions to decide:

1. How many useful images a month? Fewer than about fifty, regular or not: look at free tiers and pay-as-you-go first.
2. Is your need regular? A subscription is also paid in quiet months. Credits that never expire are not.
3. Do you use ChatGPT for other things? If so, Plus may still be the best overall choice.
